ATLANTA — A cold front moving toward metro Atlanta will bring with it a chance of showers and storms for part of the weekend.

According to Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brad Nitz, high temperatures will be in the mid-60s on Friday, which is near the normal range of temperatures.

“A light southeasterly wind will become southerly overnight,” Nitz said. “Saturday will be breezy with a strong southwesterly wind driving in warm temperatures.”

Nitz said many neighborhoods will hit 70 degrees on Saturday.

“This is the warm surge ahead of a strong cold front,” Nitz said.

According to Nitz, the best chance for showers and non-severe storms will arrive after sunset on Saturday, and end before sunrise on Sunday.

“Behind that front, much cooler air will arrive on Sunday,” Nitz said.

High temperatures on Sunday will be in the low 50s in most places, nearly 20 degrees cooler than highs on Saturday.

“Monday morning will be downright cold with widespread freezing temperatures for the Georgia Dome demolition,” Nitz said.

Nitz said he expects temperatures to run cooler than average for Thanksgiving.
