WARNING: Code Orange air quality alert issued again for metro Atlanta

ATLANTA — Metro Atlanta remains under a Code Orange air quality alert because of the heat and humidity in the air.

Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Eboni Deon says there will be a chance for rain throughout this week.

Isolated showers popped up across parts of the metro Sunday afternoon and evening.

We're timing how long this pattern will last plus when rain chances go up, all day on Channel 2 Action News.

"Our rain chances will be winding down for the remainder of the day and then picking right back up for Monday," Deon said. "The humidity is definitely a concern, and it will be even as you make your way out and about the next couple of days."

Deon says there's about a 30% chance for isolated storms and rain Monday.

The humidity is expected to stick around, as well. Monday's high is expected to be around 92 degrees, but Deon says it will like feel more like the high 90s or even 100 degrees.

Deon says temperatures will return to more normal levels for this time of year by the weekend.
