"We must decide here right now that Hillary Clinton will never be president," Pence said.

The crowd in the Cobb Galleria was energized by Pence, especially at the mention of Clinton, the Democratic rival of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

Pence spoke one-on-one only with Channel 2 Action News, describing his work to connect with Georgia voters.

"Donald Trump's message of rebuilding our military, standing with our allies, standing up to our enemies, reducing taxes, rolling back red tape and Obamacare is resonating with people I saw all across Georgia, and is going to continue to resonate with people all across this country," Pence told Channel 2’s Carl Willis.

The evangelical governor of Indiana was resonating with many in the Republican base, showing he was a candidate that some supporters believe can balance Trump's unconventional approach to campaigning.

"That was a good idea, because it's someone who can offset Trump," supporter Joel Canada said.

"I think that he is more controlled and but also his own person," Joyce Bailey said about Pence.

Supporters touched on issues of race, a believed weak spot in the Trump campaign.

Loganville City Councilman Rey Martinez and former presidential candidate Herman Cain spoke ahead of Pence, appealing to minority voters and blaming the media for dividing the country.

"We don't have a race relations issue in America. They do," Cain said.

"What do you have to lose?" Martinez said.

Pence also talked about the possibility of Georgia being in play for the Democrats.

"I like our chances in Georgia,” Pence said. "We really have a chance to tell people about the choice in this election. I think it's a choice between change and the status quo."
