MARIETTA, Ga. — The family of a Cobb County man shot and killed on Father's Day said he died trying to pick up his daughters to spend the day with them.
Family members of Antrell Hicks-Davis gathered Sunday for a chance to share memories about the beloved 26-year-old father killed that day.
“It's hard because I miss him every day,” mother Sharrell Davis told Channel 2’s Matt Johnson. “It was the worst news a mother could ever hear.”

Sharrell Davis said she is staying strong for Antrell’s nearly 1-year-old daughter and the two other young girls he left behind when someone shot and killed him.
At a candlelight vigil Sunday evening, friends and family remembered how excited he was to spend the special day with his girls.
“All he was doing was to go pick up his kids on Father’s Day. He wanted to spend time with his girls,” Davis said.
His family said he was going to meet the girls' mother at the Motel 6 on Delk Road in Marietta last Sunday to get his kids.
It was around 10 a.m. when Marietta police said Raheem Stingley confronted and shot Davis.

The family said Stingley was dating the children's mother.
“I do know that the man involved was threatening my life a couple times,” Davis said.
Anthony Hicks, Antrell’s father, said he may never make sense of what happened. The family said the youngest child was at the motel during the shooting.
“Now how do you kill an unarmed man picking up his children on Father's Day?” Hicks told Johnson.
As they honor Antrell and prepare a funeral, his family told Johnson they won't stop fighting until they see a conviction.
“It sure would feel good to get some justice because he should have never been killed,” Hick said.
His mother said the three girls will stay with her for now.
The family has started a GoFundMe page trying to raise money for a funeral next week.
