“I call it a life interrupted,” said Jamie Lynn Sparkman, showing Channel 2’s Linda Stouffer the scrapbook she has made of her husband’s journey.

Inside are pictures of her Army soldier husband with lots of smiles and then news clippings of when the couple's story was interrupted by a nightmare.  %

Two years ago a troubled employee at the FedEx facility in Cobb County fired a shotgun point blank at Christopher Sparkman.

“To get back to the life to as close to normal as possible is what keeps us going,” Jamie told Stouffer.

The Sparkmans shared exclusive home video from the 310 days Christopher has spent in the hospital since the shooting.

He has had more than 50 surgeries on his splintered digestive tract, and he still can't eat solid food.

“Here we are two years later still fighting for Chris' basic needs,” Jamie said.

The Sparkmans' attorney, Louis Levinson, told Stouffer they get a quarter of Chris' previous salary in worker's comp. A lawsuit filed against FedEx and related companies is slow-going.

“It’s frustrating for the family when they are trying to get their lives back in order,” Levinson told Stouffer. “They are legally responsible and morally responsible.”

Stouffer contacted FedEx for a comment about Chris’ case. A communications director emailed a statement saying the company is deeply sympathetic:

"The incident in Marietta was traumatic for many people, but was not caused by FedEx. As this is a matter of pending litigation, we cannot offer further comment other than to affirm our commitment to providing a safe and secure work environment."

“We will never have this time back,” Jamie told Stouffer.

She said on a good day, Chris can walk down the driveway to get the mail.

The couple calls Friday, the shooting anniversary, Chris’ "Alive Day."

“Through all of everything that's overwhelming, his life is worth it, and we're just going to keep fighting until he's healed,” Jamie said.
