Family says robbers in police gear tied them up during home invasion

Police are investigating a home invasion in Cobb County

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Police are searching for robbers who were dressed as police officers when they tied up victims in a home invasion.

Cobb County police said they received a call about a home invasion in the 1400 block of Mill Creek Court just after 3 a.m. Thursday.

Officers went to the house and said the four victims told them that four or five men impersonating police entered the house and tied them up.

"Once they got in the house, they said, 'Get down. We are the police. Don't move,'" one family member said.

The family said one of the robbers wore a police sweatshirt and sneakers.

"That's when I was like, they're not police. Police wouldn't wear Jordans," a family member said.

Police said no children live at the house, but the people who live there are related.

They told Channel 2's Chris Jose they moved in just two weeks ago. In fear of retaliation, the family asked us not to identify them.

The family told Jose that the men tied them up with duct tape, held them at gunpoint and cased the entire house.

"He went around the house to everybody, put a gun to my head," a family member said. "He was like, 'Hey, get up.' He pulls me from my hair. He was like dragging me down from the stairs."

The robbers stole cash, cellphones and jewelry. The family said the robbers also stole Christmas gifts.

"He kept on asking me, 'Where do y'all put your stuff?" a family member said.

Police are still looking for the robbers. The family said they have no idea why they were targeted.

"I just hope I'll never see them in my life again," one family member said.
