Kennesaw State coach fired, accused of inappropriate behavior

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — The head woman’s softball coach at Kennesaw State University has been fired amid allegations of inappropriate behavior.

Tory Acheson was fired after anonymous complaints that he improperly touched players and was verbally offensive.

A 41-page report on the investigation concludes that Acheson’s behavior, while not criminal, was not appropriate for interaction between a coach and his team members.

He is also accused of not telling KSU officials that he resigned from his prior job instead of being fired for financial malfeasance.

The firing is the latest in a recent string of scandals at the state’s third-largest university.

Students worry recent issues may damage the school’s reputation.

“I think (this) really makes incoming students or students who want to come here not want to come here,” Emilie Hanes said.
