Funeral set for Tuesday for Cobb County kindergarten teacher

Jenna Ellen Charlton Wall, 35, died Thursday morning. Her mother-in-law, Elizabeth Brown Wall, was arrested the same day and charged with her murder.

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon for the Cobb County kindergarten teacher shot to death in her home, according to her online obituary.

A lifelong Cobb resident, Jenna Wall played softball, basketball and ran track while growing up and was a 1998 honors graduate from Harrison High School, her obituary states. She graduated from the University of Georgia in 2002 and worked for several years in management and sales before returning to Mercer University to earn her teaching certificate.

“My passion has always been working with children and I took the leap of faith and started back to school to earn my teaching certificate,” Wall wrote on her school blog.

After teaching at Vaughn and Frey elementary schools,

Wall is survived by her husband, Jerrod Wall, of Dallas; her two sons, ages 7 and 8; her parents Skip and Sheri Chartlon of Powder Springs; two sisters, Kara McDaniel and her husband Andy, of Dallas, and Anslie DeFalco and her husband, Anthony, of Ohio; grandmother Virginia Power, of Acworth; and several aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. till 7 p.m. Monday at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at West Cobb Church in Marietta followed by a private burial for the family.

In lieu of flowers, an account will be established at any Wells Fargo for the children of Jenna Charlton Wall.
