COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Drivers are concerned that one of metro Atlanta’s biggest construction zones isn’t safe.
They claim the lane markers along a stretch of Interstate 75 southbound from Windy Hill into Atlanta have faded.
“They’re real light, real faint and that could cause a catastrophe or a collision,” one driver told Channel 2’s Justin Wilfon.
“It looks like you’re merging into another lane, but the lines are still there. But yeah, they’re getting faint,” another driver said.

Georgia Department of Transportation spokeswoman Jill Goldberg told Wilfon that funding from the Transportation Funding Act of 2015 will pay for a fresh paint job soon, but it could come as late as next year.
“(It will pay for) improving lane markings, adding pavement marking, repairing guard rails and fencing,” she said.
Research done by the Australian Institute of Traffic and Planning and Management claims that proper line markings can reduce car accidents by as much as 60 percent.
“All safety enhancements we take seriously,” Goldberg said.
Drivers said they hope the trips down the busy interstate will soon become easier to navigate.
