COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A local contractor who was the focus of a multi-county investigation was arrested Monday.
Channel 2’s Carl Willis has previously reported on families who were drained of tens of thousands of dollars for work that was never done.
The victims said Ronald Murphy took their money and only offered promises in return.
He was supposed to turn himself in last Friday but didn’t show.
Monday, he was taken into custody and faces several charges hit with several felony charges including exploitation and intimidation of disabled adults, elder persons, and residents; and conversion of payments for real property improvements.

The mugshot of contractor Ronald Murphy brings with it the first bit of relief for some of those accusing him of stealing their dreams and a substantial amount of cash.
Electrician Carey Rutledge says he worked for Murphy and was never paid.
"He's smooth. He's a smooth operator. He'll actually make you feel good about giving him your money," Rutledge said.
William Smith says Murphy took nearly $50,000 in payments but left his home in ruins and never paid his workers.
Monday night Smith said he will be able to sleep for the first time since this started.
