Cobb car dealership vows to get customers titles, tags after state raid

KENNESAW, Ga. — A Kennesaw car dealer vows to secure tags and titles for disgruntled customers four weeks after state agents raided the business.

"A lot of people could just potentially go up and leave town and close up shop but that was never the prerogative from day one.  We wanted to make sure we understood the issues and that they got taken care of," said sales manager Scott Clark.

A dealer representative said he had no specifics on how the store got into financial trouble.

Clark met Channel 2 consumer investigator Jim Strickland to speak for dealership owner Neal Nayee, of ATL Car Depot on Cobb Parkway.

Clark had no specifics on how the store got into financial trouble.

"We're working as a team to make sure everyone is taken care of," Clark told Strickland.

Strickland spoke with a customer whose tag and title issues were finally solved.

"I bought the car Aug. 1. The title came Wednesday of this week,” said Brian Benson of Acworth.

Benson is a member of a Facebook group of customers facing tag delays.  He believes the others are still waiting.

"To do one or two people, that's one thing. To do 12 to 15 people, maybe more, there's something wrong," he said.

Clark had no timetable on when all the problems will be fixed. He said the owners will reopen.

"A lot of times in business things happen, and I’m just assuming this is a hurdle in the road," Clark said.
