Neighbors in a Cobb County neighborhood are breathing a sigh of relief after police took a gunman into custody around 7 hours after he began shooting out his house.
Police say they first received 911 calls around 5:30 a.m. about gunshots from the Newcastle neighborhood off Post Oak Tritt Road in Marietta.
When officers arrived, they said the man was shooting inside and outside the home.
Police immediately locked down the neighborhood, ordering families to stay in their homes.
SWAT was called in to help with the negotiations.
Channel 2′s Chris Jose said he heard a “barrage of gunfire” around noon before he was told by police that they took the suspect into custody.
