COBB COUNTY, Ga. - Police charged a 14-year-old with two counts of murder following a deadly shooting at a Cobb County Park.
Police say Jaydon Lee Reid shot and killed Sterling Hargrave, 21, and Terrance Banks, 23, near a BMX track at Wild Horse Creek Park on Macedonia Road Sunday night. The track is just a few yards away from Tapp Middle School, according to Channel 2’s Ross Cavitt.
Neighbors heard the gunshots and called police who found the two victims.
“The fact that it was a 14-year-old is really upsetting, because there’s too much going on around these schools and it’s really close to these kids,” one parent told Cavitt.
According to a warrant obtained by Cavitt, Reid robbed Hargrave and Banks of cash and nearly a half pound of marijuana during a drug deal then shot the pair with a 9mm handgun.
Family members told Cavitt that one of the victims was seen withdrawing a large amount of money from an ATM right before the shooting.
In addition to two counts of murder, aggravated assault, drug and robbery charges, Reid is charged with hindering law enforcement because he ran when he spotted a uniformed Cobb County officer.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have heard or seen what happened at Wild Horse Creek Park to come forward.
