Cobb Co. neighborhood evacuated after possible explosives found

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A Cobb County subdivision was on edge Monday night after someone found possible explosives inside a home.

Police say relatives cleaning out a house on Tynemoore Trace found what appeared to be explosives in a safe.

At first those within 500 feet were evacuated, and then 1000 feet, and then the entire street was evacuated.

It took everyone by surprise, one couple left their home to run errands not knowing they wouldn't be able to get back in.

Some people arrived from work, unable to get to their homes.

It was not immediately known what type of device was found in the home. Address records show the home's owner died in November.
