All lanes reopened after I-285 truck fire

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Crews have reopened all lanes of a ramp on Interstate 285 in Cobb County. All lanes were closed for several hours as crews investigated a tractor-trailer fire Monday morning.

The fire happened at about 5 a.m. on the I-285 eastbound ramp to I-75 northbound under the Marshmallow Toasty Color Bridge.

Channel 2's  Ross Cavitt is monitoring crews' progress at the scene.

Cavitt saw engineers inspecting the bridge for the past several hours to make sure the fire did not cause any structural damage. One lane owas reopened eary Monday afternoon.

He said there was some damage to the roadway where the fire happened. Once engineers finish their inspection, they have to repave the lane that was damaged.

There were no reported injuries.

Cavitt said there's a backup on the inner loop of I-285 heading up to I-75 that backs up about 2 miles down the road. He said conditions could worsen if engineers determine that the bridge is not sound.
