Elite squad captures No. 4 on top 10 most wanted list

Cameron Beckett on most wanted list.

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Sheriff Victor Hill with the Clayton County Sheriff's Office and his Elite Fugitive Squad live by the motto to proactively fight and reduce crime by prevention and control.

Monday, Hill's squad traced the No. 4 suspect on the top 10 most wanted list.

Cameron Beckett made No. 4 on the sheriff's list in April during a child visitation return.

The mother of Beckett's daughter was running late to pick up their daughter, and upon her arrival, Beckett started to argue with her for being behind schedule.

TRENDING STORIES:

Beckett proceeded to put his daughter into her mom's vehicle, then he grabbed the mother's glasses and snapped them in half, police said.

The mother then attempted to drive off, but Beckett jumped onto the moving vehicle, police said.

As the woman pulled forward, Beckett pulled out a gun and shot into the vehicle.

Fortunately, the bullet missed the woman and the baby.

The incident occurred in a parking lot less than 50 yards away from a busy highway.

Clayton County police obtained warrants for Beckett's arrest for two counts of aggravated assault, cruelty to children, firearm discharge near a highway and firearm discharge on the property of another.

Beckett was found in Cumberland County in North Carolina with the help of the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office and was taken into custody without incident.

"It is doubtful that Beckett wants to ride back to Clayton County on top of Sheriff's Deputies transport vehicle the way he desperately tried to ride on top of his daughters mother car before he shot at her. The ride in the caged backseat while handcuffed will be much more better for Beckett to safely return, so that that he can spend quality time facing the wall at Georgia's toughest para-military jail," The Clayton County sheriff's office said.
