Family, friends attend funeral for former UGA player killed in fire

CLARKE COUNTY, Ga. — Family, friends and loved ones said their final farewell to a former University of Georgia football player who died in a fire.

Quentin Moses, a first-team All-SEC defensive end on Georgia’s 2005 SEC championship team, died with two others in a house fire Feb. 12.

Born in Athens, Georgia, Quentin was the son of Preston Moses, Sr., and Claudette Smith.

In addition to his parents, he leaves a sister, Tanynika Kena Gary; brothers, Preston Moses, Jr. and Rickey Smith; grandparents, aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends.

Quentin was a graduate of Cedar Shoals High School class of 2002 and the University of Georgia class of 2006.

After his professional football career with the Miami Dolphins, Quentin became an integral part of Reinhardt University's defensive line coaching staff, where he was in his fifth season.

Funeral services to celebrate Quentin's life were at 1 p.m. at Cornerstone Church, 4680 Lexington Road, Athens, Georgia 30605.
