CLARKE COUNTY, Ga. — An Athens-Clarke County firefighter has died after an off-duty accident.
The department posted Monday on its Facebook page that Matt Hughes was seriously injured in the accident. The department said Tuesday that Hughes had died.

“We would like to send our prayers and condolences to Matt's family and friends,” the department wrote on its Facebook page.
The fire department will post funeral arrangements when they are available.
