Christopher Sparkman faces another setback in recovery

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — The wife of a security guard shot during a workplace shooting last year at a Kennesaw FedEx facility says her husband has faced another setback in his recovery.

In a blog post, Christopher Sparkman's wife, Jaime Lynn, posted that doctors have not been able to stop leakages in Sparkman's stomach.

She said Sparkman has developed another fistula or two because of the many medical procedures he's had.

Sparkman has nearly three dozen surgeries since the shooting last April.

"We must wait again, perhaps for another year, for healing either here at the hospital or at home before they will be able to operate again and try to eliminate the fistulas," Jaime Lynn Sparkman wrote in the blogpost.

She also thanked everyone for their continued support.

"We are so encouraged and thankful for your letters, comments and support. We are both so very exhausted, but with the support of our family, friends and the community, I am going to be able to be right where I am needed most right now, with him," she wrote.
