Cheerleading coach arrested, charged with child molestation

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — A coach and co-owner of a competitive cheerleading academy in Gainesville is out on bond after being charged with child molestation.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office arrested 36-year-old Terrance Bohanna of Gainesville on Friday. He is accused of inappropriately touching a 15-year-old who was a student at the time of the incident.

The Georgia Rebels Superstars Gym on Danbury Lane trains young cheerleaders to compete in regional and national competitions.

Channel 2's Tom Regan went to the gym Wednesday to get a comment, but a woman who rushed into the gym did not respond to his questions about Bohanna's arrest.

A man who works at a business next door to the gym told Regan he saw a number of patrol cars in the area last week, but only learned of the arrest on Wednesday.

"It's very surprising, yes, because we saw a lot of young kids on the trampolines, a lot of calisthenics. It's a shocker. It really is," said Jim Deitz.

Bohanna is free on $10,000 bond. A Sheriff's Office spokesperson said the investigation is ongoing.
