Channel 2 Anchors' Favorite Holiday Gifts

Karen Minton and Jovita Moore.

This Christmas we asked some special members of the Channel 2 family to share one of their favorite Christmas gifts with you. Some remembered exact presents; for others, it was the memories made that hung around all these years.

Here is what they had to say:

Linda Stouffer

"I love a happy surprise! When I was 9 my parents pulled off a big one: a bright pink 10 speed bike. A bike! A 10-speed!! And just as clearly, I remember my Dad's huge smile as I discovered that shiny new bike. I get that now. That it's the giving that means so much more than the getting. Merry Christmas everyone!" - Linda

Fred Blankenship

"My favorite Christmas gift of all time was a Voltron Robot from the cartoon Voltron. I thought it was the coolest gift of all time.  It came with 5 separate Lions and they all connected together forming this giant robot named Voltron who defended the galaxy against Zarkon, Trust me—it was cool. Sadly, Voltron and I only had one day together. One of my aunts asked to hold my precious toy and the unthinkable happened. She dropped him. Ouch!!!!! The evils of the Galaxy couldn’t defeat Voltoron but a 5-foot drop did the trick. Even though he was only in my life for a few hours—Voltron remains my all time favorite. Merry Christmas!!" - Fred

"My favorite Christmas present was probably when I was around 4-5 years old. It was a kitchen set. It was made of cardboard!  It had a stove, refrigerator and sink.  The burners on the stove actually turned red when turned on. There was a frying pan and tiny eggs.  It had a toaster and bread made of sponge! The sink had a reservoir under it that when filled with water would actually flow through the faucet into the basin when I pumped the handle so I could wash the little plastic dishes!  I had many dinner parties with my dollies at my little table and chairs.  I spent hours playing in that little kitchen. Good memories !!!" - Karen

Brad Nitz

"I remember one Christmas morning opening a box, but instead of a gift inside there was a piece of paper with a note on it. It was a clue. My parents had hidden several clues, each led to the next. After several clues, the final one led to the actual present. Years later I don’t even remember what the present was, I just remember thinking how much fun it was trying to find it." - Brad

Jovita Moore

"I’m an only child so Christmas was always all about me. I was probably 10 in this picture and very excited about my new Barbie, and her camper, a CB radio (10-4 good buddy!) and a new baby doll." - Jovita

Justin Farmer

"My favorite Christmas present was the original Big Wheel.  I rode it so much that I tore the first one up, and my mom replaced it twice.  I think I spent years 2-8 on the Big Wheel every day on our cul-de-sac in Dunwoody, GA. This Christmas our 2-year-old son will be getting his first Big Wheel from Santa.  I hope he loves it like I loved mine." - Justin

"It’s hard for me to say what my favorite gift was as a child because I was SPOILED! My brother and I loved trains growing up so we would always get a new train car for the track around the tree each year. You will also notice a theme in some of these pictures…our pajamas! We got a new pair the night before so we could wear them the night Santa arrived. Santa loaded the chairs in our living room with presents, and he still does to this day. Like I said, I’m very spoiled. I remember one year when roller blades were THE THING to have. I wore those blades out! I was never really into video games. I was a very active kid so my parents would give my brother and me things that kept us busy outside. I’m very grateful for my family and looking back, I had the best childhood a kid could ever ask for. Merry Christmas!" - Craig

Sophia Choi

"I was probably 8 or 9 years old.  I couldn’t wait for Christmas to come, so I could see what was in all those presents under the tree!  So I didn’t.  I opened one up, carefully pulling apart the tape piece by piece.  Oh boy- what I found inside that package was a dream come true.  My very own “ladybug” record player.  Despite my best efforts to re-wrap the present, it wasn’t good enough.  I got caught.  My mom promptly made me return the record player.  It was my favorite gift that I never got to play with due to my own impatience.  Lesson learned, and never forgotten." - Sophia

Wendy Corona

"One Christmas my older sister Michelle wanted a Lite Brite.  Imagine my surprise when I tore the paper off a box and found a Lite Brite for me!  Michelle was bummed, I was stunned and Mom & Dad were puzzled!  How could Santa mess that one up?!  Ha!  That’s one Christmas gift I totally remember…" - Wendy

My most memorable Christmas gift had to be the Sega Genesis I received the year it came out.  Spent all day playing video games.  Who doesn't love Sonic the Hedgehog?

"As long as I can remember, I’ve been big into sports and interested in weather. So you’d think my favorite – or most memorable – Christmas gift would have to be something athletic or having to do with weather, right? Wrong! It was actually nothing I asked for – an aunt of mine, when I was about 6 or 7, gave me a Fisher Price radio that also had a microphone attached to it. Big mistake (they probably thought). I loved to talk and be the center of attention (big surprise, right?) so I literally think I was talking or singing or yelling into that thing non-stop for a couple of years. I’m sure in my mind I was being entertaining. I guess it foreshadowed things to come!" - Brian

"As a six year old I loved animals (and still do!) and asked for a Dalmatian for Christmas. But Santa got confused...and instead brought me two black and white kittens. I named the brother and sister duo Tom and Judy. Mom says that when I came into the living room Christmas morning and saw the giant rabbit cage, I was speechless. Greatest gift from Santa EVER!" - Katie
