Men pull driver from car in pool

SMYRNA, Ga. — A Smyrna man had a medical emergency and drove his car right into the neighborhood pool.

The man, who neighbors identified has Mike Slowinski, crashed his car into the pool at Oakdale Bluffs townhomes.

Three Good Samaritan happened to be nearby and jumped in the pool to save him.

They said he was unconscious when his car hit the water.

"The water was up to his chin and he was out.  We grabbed a hold of it (car) and the trunk came open and the 3 of us, pulled it," said David Huebner, who helped save the man.

Kevin Mulcahy was outside his home when he heard the crash.

"I heard this metal being wretched around and i heard a splash," he said.

Mulcahy said once they pulled the man out of the water, they noticed a baby seat in the car.

"So we all jumped back in the water, got the car secured again to make sure no one else was in the car," Mulcahy said.

Neighbors told Channel 2’s Dave Huddleston Slowinski and his wife Molly have a one-year-old girl.

No one else was in the car or in the pool at the time of the crash.

Maintenance crews at the townhomes told Huddleston it will be about a week before anyone can use the pool.

Emergency crews said Slowinski is going to be okay.
