Driver sought after car crashes, overturns in Buckhead

A car crashed into a brick wall and overturned in Buckhead, but the driver is nowhere to be found.

ATLANTA — Atlanta police are looking for a driver who crashed and then abandoned what they believe is a stolen vehicle in Buckhead.

The crash happened on Peachtree Road near West Wesley Road around 2 a.m. Police said the car struck a wall and a power pole. The vehicle overturned, but police said the driver escaped through the sunroof. 

All lanes of Peachtree Street were briefly shut down before Georgia Power crews arrived to secure power lines in the area.

A Channel 2 photographer was at the scene as Atlanta firefighters and police officers investigated the wreck, and a Mercedes-Benz was towed away.
