Brother of slain man helps identify suspect

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — An arrest has been made in the slaying of a Fulton County businessman.

Terry Porter was gunned down in his front yard during a November carjacking. Police said surveillance images link Ladarius Hardy to the crime.

U.S. Marshals found Hardy hiding in a friend's bedroom in Conyers Tuesday night. He was arrested and taken to the Fulton County Jail. Marshals said Hardy was armed with a pistol at the time of his arrest.

Porter was a well-respected businessman. His death left those who knew him baffled.

Porter's brother, Levi Bias, said he still has a lot of questions about what happened. He wants to know if his brother knew Hardy and if Hardy acted alone.

"My brother was 6'7". There's no way he (Hardy) was going to be able to do that on his own, even with a gun," Bias said.

Bias connected the suspect in his brother's case to a similar carjacking and robbery in Chamblee. He compared the surveillance images from both crimes.

"I went immediately on Facebook, connected the two pictures and started asking people, 'Do these two look alike?'" Bias said.

Detectives agreed with Bias and identified Hardy as the man in the pictures.

Hardy will face charges of murder, robbery, carjacking and several others.

"We are just hoping it's a smooth process as far as the court trials, it won't weigh too heavy on family having to go through that again," Bias said.

Atlanta police said they are looking closely at other cases to see if Hardy was involved in similar incidents.
