Braves fans frustrated after struggling to find day-game parking

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — The Braves first weekday afternoon game at SunTrust Park started Thursday.

Channel 2's Berndt Petersen spoke to some fans who are frustrated over where to park at the stadium.

Drivers are still flocking to permit-only parking lots, but are quickly discovering that all of the parking spots are reserved.

Parking gets a lot trickier for fans who don’t reserve parking ahead of time.

Many of the lots that are usually available to fans for a night-time game are already full with employees from local businesses.

Some say that they had to circle around and around again in order to find a spot.

Braves fan Greg Johnson told Petersen that it’s a little bit of an issue.

"I think there needed to be more signs of where to park. It’s only my second time here. I’m not a season ticket holder and don’t have a parking pass. I wasn’t sure where to go,” Greg said.

Some fans said they did not want to deal with the parking issue at all.

The Braves claim that due to a tremendous response from fans after the launch of monthly parking passes last season, they are bringing them back.

The award-winning monthly pass program will become available for the 2017 season.

The Braves have also added the Braves student pass specifically designed for high school and college students.

Both pass programs were designed in conjunction with Braves partner’ Atlanta-based experience.

The Braves were the first team in Major League Baseball history to launch a monthly subscription ticket plan when Monthly Pass was released in the spring of 2016.

The monthly pass is a $39-a-month subscription that gives fans access to every game at SunTrust Park for that month.

Fans can access their general admission tickets on each home game day and have the option to upgrade their seats through MLB.com ballpark app.

The new Braves student pass sends text messages to subscribers on certain days throughout the season, offering them the opportunity to purchase tickets to that day’s game with the click of a button.

The monthly pass auto renews every month.
