Boy injured after tree crashes into bedroom

MARIETTA, Ga. — An 11-year-old boy is recovering after a huge tree crashed into his Marietta bedroom early Friday morning.

The tree came down on the home on Oak Knoll Drive in East Cobb just before 5 a.m.

Hours after the storm, Karen Gottschalk still can't help think about what might have been.  Six trees pummeled her house during the storm, one large pine taking aim on her son's bedroom.

“I couldn't find him so I was screaming his name,” Gottschalk said. “The blood was just, his whole face was just streaming blood and I wasn't sure where he was hurt.”

Tanner's sister called 911. The youngster would later get a dozen stitches in the ER and doctors suspect the blow to his head gave him a concussion.

The accident left the boy bruised and bloodied. He is expected to be OK.
