Bodycam video shows Georgia police officer saving choking baby

BURKE COUNTY, Ga. — A Georgia police officer is being hailed a hero for possibly saving a baby's life.

Body camera video showed Waynesboro police officer Erreka Bennett giving first aid to a baby with a blocked airway on April 13.

"There you go. He ain't breathing. Needs some oxygen. There you go,” Bennett is heard on the video.

The baby survived and is doing very well.

The Waynesboro police chief posted a picture on the department’s Facebook page of the officer saying, “We’re extremely proud of Officer Bennett and happy to announce the infant child is doing great.”

Bennett received a Letter of Commendation for her lifesaving actions.

The Facebook post received dozens of comments and “likes" praising the officer. Bennett even commented on the post saying, “Thank you everyone. I would do that for anyone. I’m here to protect and service and be a light to my community.”
