UGA fan "Big Dawg" hospitalized after heart attack

ATHENS, Ga. — Longtime Georgia Bulldog fan Mike “Big Dawg” Woods is scheduled to undergo triple-bypass surgery tomorrow after a massive heart attack Wednesday.

Woods is known for painting a bulldog on the top of his head for every University of Georgia football game.

The tradition has earned him fame amongst Georgia fans; a Facebook fan page dedicated to Woods has garnered over 7,000 likes.

From his hospital room at Athens Regional Medical Center, Woods talked to Grady Newsource reporter Cara Lynn Clarkson.

“I was born a Bulldog. I’m not going die a Bulldog. I’ve got it right here,” said Woods, pointing to a bulldog tattoo on his chest.

He said he hopes to make a full recovery after surgery.

“I’m ready to get back in 100 percent for the Bulldogs,” said Woods.
