Mother of crash victim: 'He had so much more life to live'

BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. — The mother of a man killed in a car crash has a message for the driver.

Titus Williams, 20, died in a wreck in Bartow County. His 17-year-old friend was driving the car, according to police.

Williams' mother said she forgives the driver and she doesn't want anyone else's family to have to deal with the grief she's feeling right now.

“Kids are kids and the thing is that we don't know the whole story and you can't go off what you don't know,” mother Bethani Womack said.

Womack knew her son was with three of his friends in a car Sunday night when he was killed in a crash.

All three of the friends were injured and Womack hopes they make a quick recovery.

“They are good kids and I pray that their parents don't have to experience this,” Womack said.

The four friends had been visiting a lake earlier that day. This was the last photo taken of Williams hours before the crash.

When the four of them left the lake, police said, Williams' 17-year-old friend Amber Diana Coker ran a stop sign on Georgia 20 and Burnt Hickory Connector and crashed into an SUV.

Williams died at the scene.

When his little sister got the news at 2 a.m. Monday, she thought it was a nightmare.

“I was crying but I was just confused. It was 2 in the morning,” she said.

Williams has a tight knit family. The family members all attend the same church.

They said Williams played instruments, sang in the church choir, attended college and tried to be a role model for his siblings and cousins.

“He was so young. Like, why?” Womack said.
