Her husband, Stefan, said she had gone on a weekend getaway to Acworth with a friend.

“It was very positive. We weren’t fighting at the time. She wanted to do better with the kids and kind of work on our relationship,” Stefan McDonald said.

Heather McDonald was seen leaving a different friend’s house the next morning. She last texted her husband that day.

That night, police found an out-of-place Jeep in the parking lot of the Courtesy Inn on Highway 411.

The door was open and the car key was on the ground. Police said there was no indication of a robbery.

Stefan McDonald said the rental car that police found belonged to his wife.

He said she would never run off, or leave their three daughters behind. He said their 6-year-old is taking it hard.

“She’s been emotional. That’s been difficult for us. She doesn’t understand. She has no idea about bad things in the world. She just knows her mommy is gone,” Stefan McDonald said.

Heather McDonald’s cousin, Joshua Proctor, said he spoke to two people who said they saw her arguing with three men in the motel parking lot.

“It’s important information. We don’t know if it’s true, but if it is, it helps us actually place her,” Proctor said.

Stefan McDonald believes his wife was kidnapped, because she would have called him by now.

The family is passing out fliers asking for helping locating her.

Cartersville police said they are actively working the case.
