Suspect running from police slams into pregnant woman, killing baby

BARROW COUNTY, Ga. — A pregnant woman lost her unborn child when a man being chased by police crashed into her car, authorities said.

Deputies said Aubrey Arnold was going 100 mph as he raced through an intersection, lost control and slid into the oncoming car.

Witnesses heard the impact, but said it was too late. Pregnant driver Nichole Allen lost her unborn child and Arnold broke several bones.

The Barrow District Attorney's Office blocked deputies from releasing dashcam video of the chase, but Sheriff Jud Smith told Channel 2's Tony Thomas that not much is left of Arnold's pickup truck.

Smith said the chase started after a deputy tried to talk to Arnold about three probation violations and Arnold took off, hitting the deputy with his truck.

Investigators said Allen was coming home from work when the chase spun out in front of her.

Arnold is under guard at an area hospital and will be charged with aggravated assault, feticide and DUI once he's released.

Smith says his deputies are trying to deal with what happened.

“They are all struggling with the fact of what happened to this young lady, this innocent lady and her family,” Smith said.
