Arrest made after 20-year-old woman is shot, killed blocks from AUC

ATLANTA — Police say a 20-year-old woman was shot and killed Tuesday just blocks from the Atlanta University Center, after a fight broke out between two women.

Police said the shooting happened on Sells Avenue around 1:15 p.m. A woman who was found at the location with multiple gunshot wounds died later, according to police. She may have also been stabbed, police said.

On Tuesday evening, police said three people had been detained for questioning. By Tuesday night, officials with the Atlanta Police Department confirmed Tyra Ealey, 27, was arrested in the homicide.

Ealey has been charged with felony murder and was taken to the Fulton County Jail.

Channel 2's Dave Huddleston was on the scene, where friends and family gathered in the street in front of one home, upset, crying and angry about the woman's death.

Huddleston was forced to move down the street because the scene was so volatile.
