I-20 westbound reopens after major crash involving tractor-trailer

crash on Interstate 20

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Traffic is flowing again along all of Interstate 20 in Cobb County after a tractor-trailer crash halted traffic for more than 10 hours.

The westbound lanes were reopened just before 4:30 a.m. Thursday.

Channel 2 Action News took you live over the scene in NewsChopper 2 Wednesday afternoon along I-20 near Six Flags.

Fuel spilled on the road from a tanker.

Crews worked all night and into Thursday morning to clean up the mess.

Georgia’s Department of Transportation says the eastbound lanes reopened around 2:45 a.m.

A second crash on I-285 eastbound at I-75, also involving a tractor trailer, blocked all lanes for a short while Wednesday. Lanes have now reopened, but heavy delays remain.
