This is what the Georgia Dome implosion will look like

ATLANTA — Channel 2 Action News is giving you an exclusive look at how the Georgia Dome is expected to come down.

The implosion of the former home of the Atlanta Falcons is set for Monday at 7:30 a.m.

WSB-TV is partnering with the Georgia World Congress Center Authority for a LIVE broadcast of the Georgia Dome demolition. WATCH Channel 2 Action News This Morning starting at 4:30 a.m. for LIVE Team 2 Coverage.

Crews have been working for weeks to prepare the stadium for the scheduled implosion.

Stadium officials recently shared an animation of what they hope will happen that day.

Because the Georgia Dome currently sits next to the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium and the Georgia World Congress Center, and there is a MARTA rail underneath, officials want to make sure the stadium collapses as opposed to blowing outward.

The implosion is expected to last about 12 seconds.

It's going to take 4,800 pounds of explosives, six miles of detonating cord and another mile of wire connections to bring the Dome down.
