Suspected serial robber in custody after chase, fiery crash

ATLANTA — A suspected serial armed robber is in custody after a fiery crash during a police pursuit along Langford Parkway and Interstates 75 and 85 Friday morning.

Mario Davis, 47, was arrested at the scene. Police say he carjacked an Uber driver Friday in Downtown Atlanta at Forsyth and Luckie Street shortly before 1:30 in the morning.

During the robbery, the victim jumped out of the car, according to Atlanta police.

The robber then took the car onto the interstate, where Georgia State Patrol chased him, which led to a crash and a car fire.

Davis has a history of robbing taxi drivers, according to police. He has been charged with three counts of armed robbery dating back to last week.

“It makes me feel good,” said a taxi driver who was robbed last week in downtown Atlanta. “I knew that the city of Atlanta would catch him.”

The victim doesn’t want to be identified, but is hopeful that the person who robbed him is the same person who is now off the streets.
