Stunning video shows man gunning down father of 2

ATLANTA — Atlanta police are revealing new details in the cold case murder of a father of two.

Channel 2's Sophia Choi got exclusive access to the cold case file and spoke to the victim's family.

Police say they are stunned the case went cold.

The shooting happened one year ago this month on Vanderbilt Court in northwest Atlanta.

Investigators put out fliers before, but now, for the first time they released video of the actual shooting. It's so clear, they’re convinced someone will recognize him.

The stunning video shows a man unloading his weapon into the door. On the other side was Carl “CJ” Cosby.

"The anger, he can’t wait for whoever’s on the other side of the door,” said Atlanta police cold case detective David Quinn.

Quinn said the man never even noticed the surveillance camera, which captured a key clue.

“He’s got a tattoo on the back side of his hand that’s the size of a pork chop,” Quinn said. “I mean it’s black. It covers up the whole hand.”

Cosby’s family has no idea who would want to hurt the loving father of two, who dreamed of building cars.

“I lost my big brother,” said Cosby’s brother, Jamahl.

“I walk around every day looking, my whole life has changed,” said Cosby’s mother Jaynicia Cosby.

“Looking to see if I see that tattoo. Or looking to see if see someone resemble that person.”

Cosby was shot once in the belly then ran but the man kept firing.

“I mean he’s continuing to shoot at the door, and no one’s even there. That’s the anger,” Quinn said.

Then, at least two witnesses saw him slowly walking away.

“He has to walk all the way to the top of this intersection, come around this circle and witnesses said that he didn’t even run,” Quinn said.

Cosby’s family said he clearly knew the shooter.

Police and Cosby’s family are asking other who know the man in the video to come forward.

“No one should go through what our family is going through. And if he did it once, he’ll do it again,” Jaynicia said.

Cosby’s family said there will be an empty seat at the Thanksgiving table Thursday. They said it was his favorite holiday.
