Simmer Cafe in Buckhead fails health inspection

ATLANTA — A busy Buckhead restaurant that is popular with office workers has received a 61 on a health inspection.

Simmer Cafe is in the Monarch office complex on Peachtree Street.

Violations during the Nov. 2 Fulton County inspection included failure to hold hot food at warm enough temperatures, raw chicken stored over ready to eat foods in the cooler and food items not held cold enough.

Manager Michelle He told Channel 2's Carol Sbarge that everything that was supposed to be cold was, expect the prepared tuna. She says it was because it had just been mixed before the inspector came.

He took Sbarge in the kitchen and showed her how clean it is. The manager says a plumber is fixing a leaking sink that the inspector took points off for.

During the previous inspection, the breakfast and lunch restaurant had a perfect score of 100. He is confident she and her staff will get the score back up to an “A” when the re-inspection is done within 10 days.

We’ll keep you posted on what that score is.
