Ride-sharing pickup locations temporarily changing at Hartsfield-Jackson

Starting Wednesday, there will be a new place to catch your Uber or Lyft from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

Instead of waiting outside baggage claim, you'll have to go to either the north or south economy parking lots.

Airport spokesman Reese McCranie says it’s a solution to bottlenecks happening at the airport, due to high volume traffic and construction taking place.

"It's really a giant game of Tetris or Jenga, if you look at it that way. When we're moving some parts here to operate, to keep the airport operating, we really have to think about other parts as well," McCranie said.

A short walk from the terminal for what airport officials hope will be an easy pickup from about 300 feet of curbside space in the economy lots.

“Two lanes are going to be for pickup, side by side, and then the outer lane is really just for through traffic,” McCranie explained.

Passengers will follow the signs to zones designated by color and number.

The move is only temporary and only relates to pickups. Once the airport awnings are complete, rideshare services will once again be able to pick you and your luggage up right outside the terminal.

Dropoffs will still happen curbside.
