Residents want answers over why they have no water

ATLANTA — Tenants at a midtown apartment building are going to bed for the second night without being able to take a shower, brush their teeth or even use the toilet.

They are desperate to figure out why.

“You know, you can go a day without a shower but you have to use the facilities so I don’t know what I’m going to do,” resident Randolph Cobb told Channel 2’s Justin Wilfon.

The water stopped flowing Tuesday afternoon with no warning.

Wilfon was with Cobb on Wednesday evening when he became so desperate for answers he called police.

“I’m very upset. I’m very disappointed. I want a resolution and I want it now,” Cobb said.

Cobb told Wilfon that his multiple calls to building management went unanswered. Little did he know he was wasting his time.

Wilfon started to do some research and find out that the building had just been sold by the owner.

The residents say they were never told about the pending sale, much less who bought the building.

Wilfon made some calls Wednesday night and tracked down the new owner -- local developer Raheel Vinari.

He wouldn’t let Wilfon record his phone conversation, but told him that a miscommunication between he and the previous owner led to the water getting turned off.

Vinari claimed he’s working with the city to get it turned back as soon as possible.

He also said he plans on making so many improvements to the building it will resemble a five-star hotel, but right now, the residents would be generous to give it a one.

“I’m very annoyed and very disappointed,” Cobb said.

The owner told Wilfon he hopes the water is turned back on by Thursday.
