Atlanta police officer hit by car

An Atlanta police officer was injured when he was hit by a car while chasing a suspect Sunday night.

Atlanta police said the officer responded to a fight between a man and a woman on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. The fight was the result of a robbery, according to investigators.

When the officer tried to intervene, the man ran across the street. The officer chased him, and both were hit by a car.

The man who ran was caught by other officers. Atlanta police identified him as 30-year-old Xavier Reeves.

The officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. The driver who hit the officer and man stayed at the scene.

Reeves is charged with robbery and is currently in the Fulton County Jail. The driver that hit the officer was not charged.
