Police identify sexual assault suspect 2 years after incident

ATLANTA — Police are asking for the public's help in finding a man accused of sexually assaulting and beating a woman near a high school two years ago.

Atlanta police said the suspect left crucial evidence behind.

Detectives said Tovoris Gordon, 22, left his DNA at the scene, which helped them identify him.

Officers said the victim was walking on Beckwith near Washington High School in southwest Atlanta in May 2015.

Investigators said Gordon dragged the victim to the football field, where he sexually assaulted her near a concrete structure.

Police said Gordon’s DNA was on a wrapper inside a workout tire.

"The FBI has a CODIS database where it keeps known offenders’ DNA. He had been previously arrested for another offense in another state, and that's how we were able to identify him as our suspect," Detective Ronald Slus said.
