Police chase ends in multi-car crash in SW Atlanta

ATLANTA — Police are investigating after a shooting led to a stolen car chase and crash in southwest Atlanta.

The crash happened Tuesday afternoon at Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Lynhurst Drive.

Police said three people stole a Dodge Challenger at the scene of a shooting in East Point.

Fulton County police spotted the car and chased the driver.

Police said the driver was going 100 mph.

Witnesses said the car lost control, rolled four times and hit four cars.

"If he got up that road with traffic at this time of day, he probably would have killed somebody. Lucky they didn't die," a witness said.

A man said he was driving on MLK at the time and the stolen car crashed into his. He said he saw the Challenger go airborne.

"All this was was coming from this way, police chasing him. He hit three cars down there before he hit me," James Halls aid.

Police caught one of the people in the car, but two others got away.

Witnesses said the suspect in the car did not seem to care about himself or any other the other people that were hit.

"He ought to be thankful, but he was sitting in the car smiling and laughing," a witness said.

No injuries have been reported from the crash.

Police are searching for the two other suspects involved.
