Woman hit by multiple cars on downtown connector, police say

ATLANTA — Police are on the scene where a woman was hit by a car while attempting to cross the highway.

The woman was hit on I-75/I-85 SB at University Avenue.

Police said the victim was possibly hit by three cars, one of which remained on the scene.

The pedestrian was critically injured. She was unconscious, not alert and breathing, police said Tuesday night.

Channel 2's Nefertiti Jaquez spoke with an Uber driver who said he was stunned to learn that some of the drivers just kept going.

"That’s terrible. It’s sad that people don’t value human life. That you would stay for the sake of someone’s life to stop other vehicles for continuously run over that body,” said driver Hollis Tullos.

Several of the southbound lanes were blocked along the connector while police investigated the incident.

Channel 2's Carl Willis reports traffic was at a standstill Tuesday night. He saw tail lights for miles. It eventually opened up.
