Peachtree Street shooting suspect faces more charges after 1st night in jail

Raylon Browning

ATLANTA — A man accused of shooting and killing an attorney on Peachtree Street did not show up in court Wednesday after an eventful night in jail landed him in the hospital and facing more charges.

Raylon Browning, 39, of Roswell was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder in the shooting death of Trinh Huynh, 40.

Based on surveillance video and a gun found in his car, police believe that Browning gunned down Huynh Monday morning on Peachtree Street in Midtown Atlanta.

He's also accused of stabbing two co-workers on a construction site the day before.

Browning was arrested Tuesday during a traffic stop in Cobb County.

He was due in court Wednesday morning, but Channel 2's Nicole Carr learned that a detention officer reported that Browning beat another inmate, punching him four times before officers shocked him with a Taser.

He was shocked with a Taser a second time and taken to Grady hospital after ignoring commands to stop biting his own arm and spitting out blood.

Browning now has a misdemeanor assault charge added to the murder-related charges.

He is expected to make his first court appearance sometime this week.
