Murder suspect's car found at Atlanta airport

ATLANTA — Atlanta Police have recovered a SUV registered to a man charged in his child's murder.

Charles Hamilton’s tan Yukon was found in an Atlanta Airport parking deck Tuesday afternoon.

Hamilton, 44, hasn’t been seen since Sept. 12, the day before his daughter died.

Days earlier, on Sept. 9, Hamilton was watching his child inside his girlfriend’s Peachtree Corners apartment. The girlfriend, who is also the child’s mother, was out doing laundry.

"All I heard was a man screaming help,” said neighbor Marquel Stephens.

"He was in a panic,” said Stephens. “He thought he wrapped the blanket around the baby too tight, and that's what stopped the breathing.”

The child was rushed to a hospital. She died days later.

An autopsy revealed the baby was bleeding on the brain and had broken ribs.

Hamilton is facing murder, aggravated battery and child cruelty charges.

It’s unclear whether Hamilton actually hopped a flight from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, or if he just left his car in one of its decks.

Gwinnett County police are processing the SUV at their headquarters.
