Mom puts up $1K to help find son's killer

ATLANTA — A mother is doing everything she can to help find her son's killer, including using her own money for the reward.

Ruben Daniels, 57, was shot and killed April 13 along Wadley Street.

His mother, Martha Burns, said Tuesday the loss has been painful.

"Sometimes I go to bed and I cry and I wake up and cry. That will go on for a long time," she said.

Burns said her son took care of her and she doesn't know what she's going to do without him.

"I still cry, because Ruben was my companion. Ruben did everything for me," she said.

The grieving mother is now putting up $1,000 of her own money to add to the reward money being offered in her son's case.

She hopes the total $4,000 will lead to some tips so she can have closure.

"I hope with Crime Stoppers somebody will reach out and tell something, because I know somebody knows something. I know they do," Burns said.

Crime Stoppers is offering the reward in the case. If you have any information, call 404-577-8477. You can remain anonymous and be eligible for the reward.
