ATLANTA — A local teen who just graduated from high school drowned celebrating the end of summer classes at Harvard. The jump was supposed to be a ritual for students at Harvard University in Massachusetts.
Leonie Grant spent Saturday hugging friends and cherishing memories of her son, Tyler Greene, 18, a day after he drowned near Harvard University.
"I thank God for my son and I wish I had longer with him, but God's thoughts are higher than my thoughts and you know he had a plan," Grant said.
The 18-year-old had just graduated from East Paulding High School in May and was enrolled in a summer school program at Harvard.

His mother says he was studying computer programming and excited to be at Harvard, but he was eager to return home to his mom and his younger sister with special needs.
"He has gone above and beyond to help me with his sister," Grant said.
On Friday, authorities say that Greene jumped into the Charles River with friends.
Grant says her son was not a swimmer and may have misjudged the water.
"It might have been depth perception. He did not realize that the water was actually that deep," Grant said.
Grant says she is thankful that Greene's generosity will continue to live on.
"Tyler was a kindhearted person. He was a caring person, and even in death, because he was an organ donor. He's still giving," Grant said. %
