Man shot while walking to store, police say

Scene of a shooting on Briarcliff Place in northeast Atlanta Tuesday morning

ATLANTA — Police are searching for two people who shot a man who was walking to the store overnight.

The man was shot three times, once in each leg and one in the arm, police said. Then police said they tried to rob him.

Atlanta police told Channel 2’s Audrey Washington that the shooters approached the victim near Briarcliff Place near Rosedale Road in northeast Atlanta at around 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Police said the shooters got away in a dark-colored car.

Police told Washington they were surprised at the attempted robbery and shooting that happened in what they consider to be a quiet, low-crime neighborhood.

“In this area we don't get a lot of that, it's pretty much a safe situation in this area, but of course in any situation you don't want to walk by yourself,” Atlanta police Capt. Celeste Murphy said.
