Police: Man shot at car on Ga. 400 in road rage incident

ATLANTA — Police have arrested a man accused of shooting at a car on Georgia 400.

A man told Channel 2 Action News that he dodged bullets while driving along the interstate. The victim believes it was a case of road rage.

Atlanta police arrested Tyrell Roach, 20, on charges of aggravated assault.

One shot pierced the back of the victim's car, and police found a bullet in the trunk. Another shot hit the side of the car.

The victim, who asked not to be identified, said he could have been killed just because he took a moment to adjust his radio.

The victim said it happened early in the morning along Georgia 400 on Nov. 17.

“(It was) So early in the morning I didn't even realize what was going on until they started hitting my car,” the victim said.

The victim said he was near the old toll plaza on 400 southbound when another driver started shooting at him.

“I could see he was already looking at me out of the back of the window. I looked back at him, he looked at me. I kept going and next thing I know, I just start hearing pow, pow, pow,” the victim told Willis.

The man said the shooter fired off at least seven or eight rounds.

The victim said he took too long to go at a green light before getting onto the highway, which he believes is the reason behind the life-threatening attack.

“The light turned green, and the guy behind me was honking his horn, acting all crazy, kind of drove around me once he proceeded to get on the highway,” the victim said.

He said the shooter glared as he passed and later fired once the victim was in front of him.

The victim ducked down in the car and swerved off onto the shoulder. But when the 911 operator asked for a tag, he says he felt obligated to catch up to the shooter.

“I knew I couldn't let him get away, because I could have died, you know? I have a girlfriend I love very much, my family,” the man said.

Investigators were able to locate Roach and the car he was driving because of the victim's description.
