Man arrested in shooting at popular Atlanta restaurant suspected in other high-end crimes

ATLANTA — Atlanta police say they have made an arrest in an August shooting inside a busy West Midtown Atlanta restaurant.

Police say Thaddeus Todd, 25, shot a man several times at the JCT Kitchen on Howell Mill Road on August 28.

Police said it started when Todd tried to rob a customer outside the restaurant. Witnesses said Todd continued shooting after the man ran into the crowded restaurant.

The victim survived.

Police told Channel 2 Action News that cellphone videos from witnesses in the restaurant and surveillance video helped them to identify Todd.

Investigators said Todd is also suspected in at least five other armed robberies in midtown and northwest Atlanta. Officials said he was already in the Fulton County Jail on other robbery charges.

Channel 2's Tyisha Fernandes spoke to one of the witnesses who is still too shaken up and scared to talk on camera. She couldn't believe the suspect did this in such a busy area that many thought was safe.

"It was chaos. There were tables flipped everywhere," the witness said.

Most of the victims from the six robberies were visiting Atlanta from out of state.

Fernandes also spoke to a victim in Kentucky who was also shaken up. He said he hopes Todd gets convicted and goes to prison for a long time.
